Know No Limits

Thought for the Week: 29th March 2010

“Whatever you focus on, you will experience…

When you talk about ‘what is’ or ‘what was’, even if you’re just explaining to a friendly ear, you project more of the same into the future. If you ask more than you give thanks, you’ll believe less in your own power. And if you insist that it’s hard and that you’re lonely, you’ll find that it is, and you are.

Yet, always you can choose to focus on what’s good.

Thoughts become things…”

Health timebomb hits baby boomers: Over 60′s suffer more illnesses caused by bad diet and lack of exercise

This article was in the Daily Mail a few months ago, but I really feel that it warrants re-visiting. Whilst in some ways it’s no great surprise, I do find it incredible that we’re getting unhealthier as a society, despite our so called advances in modern medicine and free healthcare. Or maybe that’s why? Perhaps many people have abdicated responsibility for looking after their bodies and are leaving it for the doctors to fix them for free when things go wrong?

Please read the article, I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments…

Quoted from the Daily Mail, 14th Nov 2009

“They were the first to enjoy free health care, and had the time of their lives in the Swinging Sixties. But the post-war ‘baby boomers’ are now paying the price.

Today’s 60 year olds are the first modern generation to be less healthy than their immediate predecessors.

Despite improvements in medicine and standards of living, they are more likely to be blighted by problems from aching knees and creaking hips to diabetes, asthma and strokes.

Today’s 60 year olds may face more health problems than previous generations despite a lifetime of free healthcare

Even simple tasks such as getting in and out of bed or climbing ten steps without a rest prove a challenge. And with fast food, lack of exercise and a growing reliance on computers and other technology, the future could be even bleaker…”
